Brief
For my Senior Capstone project, I was tasked with utilizing the graphic design skills I had acquired over the course of four years to create a unique and meaningful project.
Challenge
One of the challenges of this project was the open-ended nature of the task, which required creating a brand and producing multiple deliverables.
Goal
For this project, my objective was to develop a brand that catered to individuals who preferred not to drink in a social setting. I aimed to design a can that would seamlessly blend in with alcoholic beverages. Many people have various reasons for not drinking, and I wanted to provide an option that allowed them to fit in without drawing attention to their choices.
Unique Solution
To create Jon and Drew's Brews, I conducted extensive research and designed various elements of the brand, including the identity, packaging, shirt graphic, posters, and stickers. My goal was to create a brand that would appeal to both drinkers and non-drinkers, which was achieved through packaging design that blended in with traditional alcoholic beverages while still standing out on the shelf. I drew inspiration from playful IPA beer designs and incorporated personal elements, such as family names and a childhood pattern I had drawn.
In the final stage of the project, I presented the brand in a 10x10 booth without any restrictions on creativity.
Overall, developing Jon and Drew's Brews was a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for me to showcase my skills in brand development, packaging design, and marketing strategy. This project allowed me to explore the possibilities of designing for a social cause and create something that supports individuals who choose not to drink in a social setting.
